New soccer phenoms are on the rise and ready to replace older stars.

Alexis Sanchez is a Chilean player with outstanding athleticism and exceptional ball control abilities. He typically is used as a forward or striker. Sanchez has played for the Chilean national team and for Udinese.

Eljero Elia is a Dutch player who has been with Hamburger SV and the Dutch national team. Elia is a brilliant technician who has primarily been a substitute because of experienced players ahead of him. He has the talent to break out if he’s promoted to the starting lineup.

Brazilian Mesut Ozil has occasionally been praised as the new Diego. He’s a sharpshooter with incredible accuracy. Ozil is generally a shooter but he can also make a crisp pass to set up a teammate’s shot. Ozil plays for Real Madrid and the German national team.

Micah Richards is a defender playing for Manchester City. He has polished fundamentals and is as strong as a bull. Richards has been temperamental at times but his emotional self-control should improve as he ages.

Not all of these players will become the next Maradona or Pele but they’re on their way to becoming stars in the sport.
